Olathe, Kansas – Butler Avionics, Inc, a subsidiary of Butler National Corporation (OTC QB: BUKS), a leader in aircraft special mission and avionics modifications, engineering integration, manufacturing, and gaming industry service management, announces European Aviation Safety Agency (“EASA”) Supplemental Type Certificate (“STC”) approval of the Butler National ADS-B(Out) avionics solution in the Learjet Model 35, 35A, 36, 36A and Lear 60.
The EASA approved STC modification, STC Number 10063974, provides an independent ADS-B(Out) system with the installation of the Garmin GTX 3000 Transponders, the GDL 88 (Dual Band UAT/1090 Receiver with WAAS GPS Sensor) and the Flight Stream 210 Bluetooth Transmitter in the Learjet 35, 35A, 36, 36A and Learjet Model 60 airplanes. The system provides a seamless interface to most TCAS II equipment while offering the crew optional access to ADS-B(In) when within the United States. The modification allows optional reception of ADS-B(In) dual band communications from UAT ground stations and other aircraft, and the Flight Stream 210 transmits the information to on-board portable electronic devices (“PEDs”) with compatible applications.
The ADS-B(Out) equipment retrofit mandate in the Europe is set for June 7, 2020; Indonesia beginning January 1, 2018; and Class E Airspace in the Gulf of Mexico beginning January 1, 2018.
The optional ADS-B (In) functionality available in the U.S. provides pilot cockpit advisory services that consist of Flight Information Service-Broadcast (FIS-B) and Traffic Information Service-Broadcast (TIS-B) as well as ADS-B Air-to-Air UAT and 1090 traffic. FIS-B provides a broad range of textual/graphical weather products and other flight information to the general aviation community. FIS-B includes the following: Aviation Routine Weather Reports (METARs), Non-Routine Aviation Weather Reports (SPECIs), Terminal Area Forecasts (TAFs) and their amendments, NEXRAD (regional and CONUS) precipitation maps, Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) Distant and Flight Data Center, Airmen’s Meteorological Conditions (AIRMETs), Significant Meteorological Conditions (SIGMETs) and Convective SIGMETs, Status of Special Use Airspace (SUA), Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs), Winds and Temperatures Aloft, and Pilot Reports (PIREPs).
Clark D. Stewart, President and CEO commented, “The EASA-approved Butler National ADS-B STC is a cost-effective ADS-B(Out) compliance solution. The Butler system also allows access to very useful pilot information when ADS-B(In) is available.”
Mr. Stewart added: “Butler is pleased to offer this cost-effective Lear 35/36 series and Lear 60 ADS-B solution for aircraft having TCAS II. Butler National has a wide spectrum of cost-effective options for Learjet aircraft with and without TCAS II. Butler offers the ADS-B solution to customers at our Butler Avionics facility in Olathe, Kansas (KIXD) or in Newton, Kansas (Wichita), or through qualified avionics installation facilities worldwide.”
